Description: The Revolutionary War privateer Rattlesnake was designed in 1779-80 by John Peck. It was built in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in the style of a miniature frigate and was armed with up to 20 guns and a complement of 85 men. While there is little history of this privateer, it is known that it was captured by the British in 1781. It was taken by the Royal Navy and sold soon after.
